Holy Childhood School 1947-2010

Alums and Friends are invited to the Holy Childhood School 1947-2010 Celebration Sunday, August 8 beginning at 10 a.m. with an Orchestral and Choral Mass.  Following the Mass there will be a picnic lunch in the “pit” and Buchanan Hall at 1435 Midway Parkway, St. Paul.  The school will be open for touring.  RSVP to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Sounds of Hope, Ltd.

For twenty years, Sounds of Hope has been bringing talented young performers to the Twin Cities from countries worldwide to spread a musical message about people getting along with one another. For the twentieth anniversary, alumni from 26 countries on five continents have been invited to return to Saint Paul to perform a wondrous selection of songs and dances from their many countries. Part high-energy revue, part musical tour of the world, the concert program will range across styles and cultures: folk, blues, swing, reggae, rock, Asian, Middle Eastern, African, Latin, etc., with music by an ensemble of outstanding local musicians. The concert will be held on Saturday, July 31 at the History Theatre, 30 East 10th Street, Saint Paul. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and children under 12. There is a 30% discount for groups of 10-19 and a 40% discount for groups of 20 or more. Ramsey County Permanent Families Recruitment Project

Currently, Ramsey County has over 80 children waiting to be adopted. An even greater number are in foster care. The Ramsey County Permanent Families Recruitment Project is focused on the recruitment of both foster and adoptive families; our primary goal is to find a permanent family for each waiting child. Will you be that permanent family? Will you continue to spread the word through your communities, employers, and church family to help us find a permanent family for each child waiting to be adopted? Loyola Spirituality Center News

Loyola presents At the Crossroads: Finding God Together, a nine month program for anyone who is in discernment around change; longing for a deeper relationship with God; wondering if or how God is present in their situation. Loyola invites you into a deepening journey with Ignatian spirituality. The resource for this program will be the book, The Inner Compass, by Margaret Silf, along with supplemental materials. With God’s grace, participants in the program will experience the inner transformation that God has in store by reading, praying, journaling, and sharing personal journeys. The program meets monthly from 7 – 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 10, Sept. 7, Oct. 5, Nov. 2, Dec. 7, Jan. 4, Feb. 1, Mar. 1, April 5, and May 3. Sign up by calling Loyola at 651.641.0008 for one of the two orientation sessions offered on June 15 or July 27 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. The cost for each session is $30, payable in two installments. If you pay for the entire program in advance the cost is $250 (a savings of $20). Loyola Spirituality Center is located at 389 N. Oxford Street.

 

Community Events at the Cathedral

Once a month, following the 10 a.m. Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Paul, all are invited to the organ loft for a special opportunity to watch the organist play the postlude and hear the pipes of the Cathedral’s organ at close range. At the conclusion of the music, there will be an opportunity to learn more about the pipe organs and the SOUND OFF! Organ restoration project.
