The Homeless Shelter Committee functions to facilitate the parishes’ sponsoring Project Home Homeless Shelter for families in April and October.  We work to provide a safe and welcoming environment for the families who are guests during those months.  We work to facilitate the shelter with the daily life of our Parish. 

The Homeless Shelter Committee wishes to thank everyone who worked a shift; slept over; cleaned; cooked; helped with the set up/tear down; prayed; donated; and advocated for this ministry this past April. We were very full for the majority of the month. Our guests mainly were very young children (most under 8). As we wrap up this month’s effort, please keep this ministry in prayer in the months until we host again in October.

We are a working Committee.  Our work begins about six weeks before the opening of the shelter and ends up two weeks after the shelter closes for the month.  There are two ways to be involved in the behind the scenes work of the ministry.  First, you can join the Committee and take on tasks to make the shelter function.  Second, you can take on a task, but not join the Committee.  You may want to talk to a current Committee member to get a feel for how we work.
