Charitable Contributions
Thank you for your interest in learning about how you can provide financial support for the Catholic Church of Saint Peter Claver. Along with our need for general support, at this time there are four areas of need that we are seeking charitable contributions for, including:
HOW FIRM A FOUNDATION CAMPAIGN - This is the name we have bestowed upon our current capital campaign which is designed to ensure adequate endowment funds are available to support the scholarship needs of our students in perpetuity. We draw periodic support for our school from this fund to help offset the real costs of providing a high quality parochial school in the Rondo Community. Funds donated to the How Firm A Foundation campaign are also used to help eliminate the remaining debt incurred from the renovation of the Church Hall and the school.
K - 8TH GRADE SCHOOL - Saint Peter Claver Catholic School is an elementary school whose purpose and mission is to reach out to and educate the children of our parishioners and surrounding community. Students of all races and ethnic backgrounds are welcome. Grounded in the teachings of Jesus and the fullness of the Catholic tradition, the school draws particular strength from its rootedness in Africa, which teaches resilient faith, self-determination, perseverance, hospitality, participation, respect and reverence. As an institution committed to a philosophy of excellence, the school provides the opportunity to achieve a high quality academic education and solid spiritual, moral and religious formation. We don’t simply strive to get our students to high school, our goal is for them to complete college and be positive role models and active contributors to society at large. There are several initiatives within our school programming that require on-going designated support from our community to ensure viable programming, including:
-
Supplemental tuition support – become a Claver Angel by making an annual gift of at least $2,900 to help with the real cost of tuition, which for the 2008-2009 school year is estimated to be $7,250 per students. Since more that 85% of our students are eligible for free / reduced lunch, the reality is that only a small percentage of our families are able to afford the quality parochial education they seek for their children.
-
Before and after school programming – Dedicated members of our staff arrive at school before 7:00 AM each day of the week to ensure that students whose parents must start work early in the morning are in a safe and supportive environment prior to the beginning of the school day at 8:20 AM. Students receive a nutritious breakfast; help with lingering homework challenges; and an opportunity to enjoy the company of others before the riggers of their school day begin.
We also provide after-school supervision and age appropriate programming to more that 60% of our students from the end of the school day at 2:45 PM to 6:00 PM. The after-school program includes homework help, outside playtime, special interest activities such as chess club, creative arts and diverse technology activities. Students receive a healthy snack and a chance to relax with their peers in a supervised setting. This vital programming allows parents to complete their work day in confidence, knowing that their children are in a safe and nurturing setting during the transition period between the formal school day and their return to their homes.
PARISH MUSIC/WORSHIP - the basis of our shared spiritual community!
PARISH OUTREACH & YOUTH ACTIVITIES – including our semi-annual participation in the Project Home program of Ramsey County, proving safe shelter for homeless families, our Religious Education program, and special community building events throughout the year.
